I Am Significant

Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world.

You do not have to be something spectacular to be significant. The kingdom of God is about a small coin, a mustard seed, a little yeast, a lost sheep as much as it is about hidden treasure and a special pearl. You only have to look to the one who created you and hear what he says to you about who you are. He says many wonderful things (Psalm 139:14) about you being very good (Genesis 1:31) and beautiful (Ecclesiastes 3:11) and worthy of dying for (Romans 5:8).

Many time we keep playing on loop what others have told us, maybe they uttered it just once but we have repeated it uncountable times in our hearts and minds. It is bound to make us feel insignificant and worthless and useless and purposeless and since it is not true it does not set us free. It entangles us and threatens to suffocate and choke us with fumes of darkness and dreary hopelessness.

Do not believe this voice within you because the voice is not really your true voice, but it is the voice of so many broken beings who have travelled your life trying to love you in broken ways and without knowing may have installed a line that has become your strong feeling, a line that may be anything from you are not good or you are useless or you are not smart…who knows, they may have been just playing the record of their own voices? Who knows what pain and tragedy brought forth those lines? But then, you making it your own, can blind you to the truth of who you are and who you can become in Christ.

Delhi Women's Day

The truth sets us free. Let your minds and hearts receive and believe only the words of our Creator who knows exactly what we are and why we have been created (Colossians 1:16).

So today, as you pray…maybe you can try getting up and walking around and feel the light you exude, and commit yourself to letting your light shine brightly by believing what Jesus says you are and being what Jesus tell you to be. Because Jesus is the Truth.

Debbie Hasty - Thank you, Toli. This has reminded me that I must be careful to speak positive truth to other women in my life and stop any passing on of untruths coming from my own brokenness.

Arlene Edney - Wow. Thank you for these, words, thoughts, and powerful scriptures. Only the Word of God can defend our minds from Satan's lies. This devotional is such a blessing. Thank you❤

Wendy Hislop - Dear Toli, thanks for your devotional. This would make a wonderful illustrating book for devotionals. Although it would great to add questions of reflection as the other devotionals do as it helps search your heart and mind to put things into perspective.
