Sabbath Living

Hurry. Its a way of life for the twenty-first century American, is it not? Long days followed by extra-curricular everything often turn into late nights for the whole family, only to culminate in the over-scheduled weekend, often topped off with a frenzy of Sunday activities that leave us more drained than refreshed for the new week. What if this was more than a 21st century problem? Could it be that the humans just have a hard time knowing when to say “enough!?” Like exhausted small children resisting nap time, we grown up folk can find ourselves resisting the rest that God has so graciously provided in the Sabbath. Won’t you join me in just taking a peek into this gift?

This series was recorded in 2016, as more of a video log of my first glimpses into Sabbath living. Since then, my practice of the Sabbath has grown by leaps and bounds under the influence of John Mark Comer’s The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, Pete Scazzero’s Emotionally Healthy Spirituality, and Marty Solomon’s Bema podcast. The specifics of my practice today are quite different from those of 2016, but the heart remains the same- savoring the rest of God.
